Another Challenge, The Blog Tour Award

Sometimes I wonder just how true Jung is.

I’m talking about what he said about synchronicity. How events and times seem to have some strange way to connect to each other, and as a result this caused people to believe that some higher power, some higher conscience, is actually playing a significant part in arranging things. I mean, I was just thinking about what a dear friend told me about my writings and drawings, and at about the same time Anne challenged me with the Blog Tour Award nomination. And this is not the first time something like this happened. If you read some of my previous posts, you’ll know what I mean.

Anyway, I decided to accept the challenge, scary as it is. Scary? Yes, because I’ve never really asked myself the questions asked in the challenge, and it scares me a bit to try to dig into myself that deep.

OK, before my rantings start confusing you helplessly, let me show you what the rules are:

The rules:

  1. Pass the tour on up to four other bloggers.
  2. Give your nominees the rules and a specific Monday to post.
  3. Answer four questions about your creative process which lets other bloggers and visitors know what inspires you to do what you do. How does my work differ from others in my genre? How does my writing/creative process work? Why do I write or create what I do? What I’m working on at the moment?
  4. Compose a one-time post on a specific Monday (date given from your nominator).

OK so far? You got the idea of how answering the questions may interfere with the balance of The Force? Well, I’ve taken up the challenge and there’s no turning back. So here are the answers to those scary questions:

  1. How does my work differ from others in my genre? To tell you the truth, I kinda underestimate this question, thinking it would be the easiest one to answer. Not anymore. It forced me to look into all things I’ve done and try to find if they differ from others at all. The only answer I can come up with is that everyone is unique, and that makes me different from others. When I draw or write, I draw and write with my heart. I draw and write what I really want to, and they represent me; my thoughts, my wishes, my life, my love, my demons. And since I am definitely different from the others, just like any of you, that’s how my works differ from others: they are my works.
  2. How does my writing/creative process work? It may sound stupid, but I simply write or draw what I want to. I draw directly using ink or watercolor or whatever, and let my hand move. No pencil sketch, no plan, I just let it flow. Some little touch-ups here in there may follow, though. And I write more or less the same way.
  3. Why do I write or create what I do? Because I want to. That’s the long and short of it. It’s that simple.
  4. What I’m working on at the moment? I’m typing this, and I’m currently helping some Indonesian comic artists translating their works into English. Apart from those, I’m still trying to finish my graphic novel project, My Name Is Duryodhana, followed by a brief graphic version of My Name Is Aradheya, as a companion to that graphic novel. After that, I may want to make the graphic version of Confession Of An Empath and A Death Dealer’s Conscience as well. If I live long enough to do all those, of course.

So, there they are. I’ve answered all four questions, and I suppose it’s now the time to pick several nominees to do the same thing, answering the same question. So, the ones I pick are:

  1. Nimmi, because her writings never fail to intrigue me
  2. Anna, because I love her unique artworks and the way she presents them
  3. Tony, because he’s a psychopathic comic genius
  4. Listen To The Babe, because she’s no babe in the woods, of course
  5. Dead Cat Comes Back, because it’ll be fun to see one person split in two answering the same questions

I think I’m going to hell for nominating both number 4 and 5… XD XD XD XD

Will it be too much to ask to expect those five to post their piece on Monday, June 8, 2015? I hope not. I’m looking forward the hear “Challenge accepted!” from those five.

What now? Back to whatever I’m doing, I suppose. What do you expect? Another potato?

  1. You crazy s——–! I accept. Or rather we accept. What a mind fuck.

  2. Ok dumb question maybe but is this the post required in rule 4? Or is it a separate post altogether?

  3. SUHU GAWE NOVEL?!!!!

  4. I clicked through to some of your comic samples. I have mad respect for your artistic abilities. Effing WOW. Sure hope you finish these! (As for the challenge, I’m-a-chickening out of this one. I’m not very good at participating in fun things like this because I always make my answers too serious. I’m pretty chuffed that you thought of me though. Seriously, thank you. That was pretty cool of you.) 🙂

  5. I will try, but I haven’t got much time right now, but I will keep this challenge in mind. Good questions.

  6. Mau komeng banyak ternyata endingnya potato lagi? Huh. Nggak jadi ah! 😛

  7. Congratulations, Edwin. Great job on post. Thanks for accepting! Anne 🙂
