Will You Die For Me?

So last night we watched that old movie Robin Hood, Prince Of Thieves in my living room. Near the end, a scene caught her attention. It was when Azeem and Robin were about to be catapulted into the castle. Stupid scene, I know, but it caught her attention just the same, because of what the characters said.

Azeem: “Is she worth it?”
Robin Hood: “Worth dying for.”

Later in bed she asked me, “Am I worth that to you? Dying for? Will you do something like that for me?”

And I replied shortly, “No. Of course not.”

She was silent for a moment and said, “No?”

So I gave her my final answer, “No. And by ‘no’ I mean NO. You are NOT worth dying for to me. I will NOT die for you. NEVER.”

I paused for breath and continued.

“You are worth living for to me. I will live for you.”

That last part earned me a good night sleep.
